1.7.10 Pre-Release #4

The following is taken off of the Mojang website:
In a double feature blog post, we’re happy to bring both a new 1.8 snapshot (14w25b) and another pre-release for 1.7.10!

1.7.10 pre-release 4

This pre-release allows you to finally upload your own worlds to Realms and adds an option to allow you to enable command-blocks on your own Realm. It also fixes some possible future-compatibility issues we discovered.
Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody reports a bug, we can’t fix it!
To get the pre-release, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “pre-releases”, check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots”, select “1.7.10-pre4″ and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.

Hey, look, a snapshot! It has lots of cool new stuff. I’m not going to tell you what they are. Not even about the new sponge texture or the new hostile mob. Nope. Nuhuh. Won’t get any new information about the new underwater stuff from me! I will, however, tell you that this snapshot contains a few months worth of rewrites to some very important parts of the engine. It is very likely that this snapshot may be more unstable than usual, slower than usual, slightly more sentient than usual or just generally unusual. Please help us to fix all these issues by reporting anything you find to the bug tracker!
Notable Changes:
  • Added a new hostile mob.
  • Introduced Sponges to survival, with new behaviour and looks.
  • Added ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■, ■■■■■■■■, ■■■■■■■■■■■■ and ■■■■■■.
  • ???
  • Bullet point.
  • Rewrote how items are rendered.
  • Rewrote how blocks are rendered.
  • Rewrote how block data is handled.
  • Rewrote history. Toby isn’t real.
Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody reports a bug, we can’t fix it!
To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (See the “new profile” dialog).
Snapshots can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

The Game, "Goat Simulator" adds a Minecraft Mini Game

Goat Simulator 2014 is one of the most..well..unique games ever released. The game revolves around you controlling a reckless goat in an open world, gaining points by destroying things. It’s glitchy, incomplete, and the self-proclaimed “completely stupid game.” But it still remains one of the most enjoyable and hilarious PC games as of late. And next month it will have a little bit of our favorite game.
The developer behind Goat Simulator 2014 sent a few screenshots to gaming website Joystiq with the caption, “Now you’ll be able to play the world’s most popular game inside the world’s best game.”
The screenshots show what appears to be a mini-game of sorts, changing the goat to a Minecraft wolf and interacting with grass blocks. The mini-game (or whatever you want to call it) will be part of the 1.1 update coming June 3rd.

Update: 1.7.6 pre-release 2 has been released to fix some crashes and bugs. Bug fixes:
  • [Bug MC-11607] – Right click with undyed Leather armor part on cauldron with water still lower water layer
  • [Bug MC-31468] – Holes in bedrock and Replaced any block using Arbitrary tnt and flame bows
  • [Bug MC-33086] – Save-all causes lagspikes on larger maps
  • [Bug MC-40615] – Child animals obsessed about their parents, even after growing up
  • [Bug MC-47723] – Broadcast settings – report to Mojang, links to previous bug reporting facility
  • [Bug MC-48826] – "replace" directive in sounds.json does not work
  • [Bug MC-51206] – Hopper: java.lang.NullPointerException: Can't place skulls in multiplayer
  • [Bug MC-51953] – Almost instant motion sickness due to distorted rendering
That’s a lot of numbers, but now Minecraft 1.7.6 pre-release 1 is available for testing! This is a huge step towards one of the most requested features since the birth of Minecraft; Name changes! This version provides complete support for identifying players through unique IDs and not by names, so that no matter what a player is called they will remain banned/whitelisted/oped/etc on servers. People have come to us with a lot of questions about this service so here’s a few FAQ about name-changes:
If I ban a player “Foo” and he changes name to “Bar”, will he stay banned?
Yes. Same for whitelisted players and oped players. They also keep their inventory, pets, statistics and everything they own on a server.
Can I steal somebody’s name? Can I call myself “Dinnerbone” too?
No. I am Dinnerbone and names are still unique. You cannot have the same name as another player, they will have to change their name for you to be able to take it.
How will this work with mods? What about my custom stuff on this one modded server?
Ask your mod maker/server owner. They should be able to support this system easily, but we aren’t responsible for mods or servers!
Can I already change my name? Where do I go? Will it cost? How often can I do it?
We will enable name changing when we feel that enough users are using 1.8 or higher, so that servers have time to switch to the new player formats. We do not have any details on how name changes will be performed or any restrictions that will be required to actually perform a name change. We want it to be easy and freely available, but we also don’t want people changing their name every 5 minutes!
So where do I change my name?
Read the previous answer!
I’m a server owner, what do I have to do when I update to 1.7.6?
Nothing, really. The server will update itself, but it’s entirely possible that it may require your input if it finds an issue (nonexistant players, for example). If your server fails to start then check the log, otherwise it’s ready to play!
Is this compatible with 1.7.5?
No, sorry. We had to change the protocol to support the new player formats.
I’m scared. I need a hug.
Aww, here you go little guy. *hug* Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds.

This pre-release also comes with a lot more Minecraft Realms improvements, crash fixes, optimizations and general bug fixes.
Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody reports a bug, we can’t fix it!
To get pre-releases, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “pre-releases” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots”, select the version from the dropdown and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (See the “new profile” dialog).
Snapshots and pre-releases can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.

Minecraft 1.7.5 Released!

It is a small update just fixing a few problems and the following:
  • Minecraft Realms adds mini game support
  • Several server-side performance improvements and bug fixes
  • Preparations to bring Minecraft Realms to more countries!
"Specifically, we aim to open Minecraft Realms to all Nordic countries (Norway, Finland, Iceland and Denmark) starting some time next week. We are still working on snapshots for 1.8, but before 1.8 is out we already know there will be a 1.7.6 version too. Minecraft 1.7.6 will add support for the new skin system (which currently is in the 1.8 snapshots) and name changing (only the support for changing names, actually being able to change names may need to wait a little more). Minecraft 1.7.6 will be out some time after GDC in March." -Mojang
